Many people ask us what we need in Kenya.
The joy of donors in cleaning out their closets
or shopping for items to bless children in Kenya
is admirable and the list of wants is always endless. Though luggage is limited, we carry all that is allowable.
We keep a SHORT LIST in the top center column.
If you can help us - we would be grateful.

LOCKS:  Padlocks, luggage locks

SHOES: Home shoes, school shoes - black leather tie or loafers

CLOTHES: T-shirts, shorts, socks, warm jackets/sweaters

SCHOOL SUPPLIES, book bags-back packs, pencils, pens, erasers, pencil sharperners, children's books, bibles

HOME AND GARDEN: work gloves, aprons, Lopping shears, clippers, shake, wind or solar flashlights. Solar lamps, wall hooks (glue on),plumbing snake, sweet annie seed, alfalfa seed

KITCHEN: pot holders, stainless steel or enamel cooking pots, wooden cook spoons, aprons, kitchen knives,

MEDICAL: medical supplies-deworming tabs, first aid kit, hand sanitizerIf you want to donate any of these things

GIRLS:  Expanding Opportunities is building the Ariemet-Kulea Girl's Rescue Center to serve girls who are running from FGM or early forced marriage and want to attend school. 

COST:  Build a HOME SCHOOL - $20,000.00 or any donation
COST: School support: $55.00 per month

PERMANENT HONOR TO OUR DONORS: Our wish is to find embroiderers and quilters who would embroider the names of our donors and form quilt hangings for the Commons building at the Joseph Waweru Home School.

NEW CHILDREN:  Construction at the Joseph Waweru Home School has progressed. We are able to house up to 16 children. Our wish is for sponsors to support a child for at least one year.

FULL COST: $90.00 per month.

POT HOLDERS and APRONS: our wish is to have potholders and aprons for the kitchen at the Joseph Waweru Home School.

VEHICLE:  Expanding Opportunities wishes to have a vehicle that will transport the children to the hospital,sports and events; transport employees for shopping, transport construction materials and transport visitors to and from the airport and throughout the country on Service Journeys.

2010 UPDATE - Well finally we have a vehicle BUT unfortunately it too is in the garage.  We love Mickey the Van -- We need help to get him out of the hospital!

2011UPDATE: Mickey is on the road. A few repairs are necessary.

@O!! UPDATE:  Mini is in the garage!!  She will ride again. She needs at least $500.00 worth of work to get her back on the road. Cost: 500 - 2,000

DISTANCE LEARNING CENTER: Our wish is for laptop or desktop computers for the Distance Learning Center in Rabondo, Kenya.

Education is power.

 Camp forest Leafy shelter

 CAMP FOREST: Located in Waldo County, Maine, Camp Forest preserves and teaches wilderness skills from around the world. There are many children who cannot afford the camp experience.  Camp Forest wishes for a greater campership program for children who could otherwise not attend camp.  

COST: $175.00 per full campership; $87.50 for half campership

BUILDING: Our wish is to continue construction at the Joseph Waweru Home School to accomodate 32 children.

COST: Family Home - $15,000 

COST:  Small dormitory - $5,000

FAMILY SUPPORT: Many orphans are living with grandparents or relatives. Often with just a little assistance they can continue to provide for these children. Our wish is for donors who would consider supporting such children. 

COST:  $30.00 per month or any amount

 School uniforms

 SCHOOL UNIFORMS:  Though primary and secondary schools are tuition free in Kenya, families must pay a series of small fees and purchase unifroms for their children to attend. Many families cannot afford to purchase uniforms for their children and therefore the children do not attend school. Help the children aattend school by purchasing a unifom or school shoes.

COST:  $50.00  school uniform complete

SCHOOL SUPPORT: Though tuition for high school is not paid by the government, students must pay many school fees to attend high school in Kenya. Therefore many students cannot afford to attend. Our wish is for sponsors for deserving high school students.

COST:  $200.00 per year 

BOARDING (not unusual in Kenya) - $700.00
